This past Saturday was National Public Lands Day, every year for NPLD we participate with U4WDA in a service project up American Fork Canyon.
American Fork canyon is one of our favorite places to go camping and Jeeping; however, it is a favorite for hundreds of other families in Utah Valley as well. The canyon receives a lot of use and is often abused. People leaving behind trash,
ATV's riding off trails and sometimes even breaking down fences to do so. The forest service struggles to keep up with all of the maintenance, and really appreciates the help of local club members in maintaining the canyon.
This year we helped re-build a fence up Dry Fork. The road turns into a single track trail up at the top and ATV's have broken down the fence and continued up the trail, which has widened the trail immensely. Hopefully the new fence we helped build will keep them out and allow the vegetation to grow back.
We had a lot of fun, and once again were able to hang out with some awesome people!
This year the TV show At Your Leisure is doing an episode on NPLD, and if you watch this Sunday you should be able to see Ben and I working hard! (http://www.atyourleisure.info/index.asp)
